As requested by a friend i’ll be going though anime characters who have influenced me in some way :).
The lastest most influential people would have to be Kamina and Simon from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. With i think Simon’s persona remembling mine the most – not totaly but i share a lot of the same feelings that hes been through.
Kamina being the most manly of men i have ever seen xD. His attitude of always pushing on and giving Simon the courage to drill through their heavens “Don’t believe in yourself. Believe in me! Believe in me who believes in you!”.
Kamina gives off a continuous source of awsomeness which fuels Simon’s courage and is always there to punch him in the face if there is not enough. [[Bear with me as i try to give my overview of the series ^^.]]
From all the awesomeness Kamina gives off Simon is able to feel more confident in himself. When Kamina and Simon are combined they are invincible.
Then comes the betrayal(cant think of another word for it) when Simon sees Kamina and Yoko kissing. The figure Simon looked up to was more distant and Yoko the person he falls for had been taken away by his idol.
Going into battle the next day Simons heart is flustered, unsure what to do and ends up hurting friends[Up to here is a pretty nice metaphor of what i’v been through]. However in the end Kamina is there to knock the sence back into him; but then losing his life “Never forget. Believe in yourself. Not the Simon that i believe in, not the Kamina you believe in. Believe in the you that believes in yourself”.
Simons recovery from losing his best friend and source of courage puts him into a dark depression. A light of hope that shines out for him was Nia; a super cute kind girl that Simon saves. From here Nia teaches Simon that he is a great person that shouldnt need to be hindered by Kaminas death; from here Simon grows into an awsome leader where Kaminas courage is fused into him from Nia’s cuteness? xd and Simons need to want to protect her.
Pierce the heavens Nia!
I myself now find myself growing in strength whenever i watch Gurren Lagann. Its a huge source of manliness xd. Row Row Fight the Powa!
One other person who has been influencial would have to be Tohru Honda.
It’s been a few years now since reading the manga so i have forgotten a lot of it, but i’ll do my best to try portray her character (please correct me if there is anything incorrect).
Tohru lost her father when she was realy young and is brought up with her mother. Just befor entering high school she also loses her mother in a car accident; but Tohru is strong and tries to live on by herself. She starts living in a tent but then finds that she had been staying on the Sohma residence. Thats all i can remember unfortunately =\.
However i do remember my experience reading it; seeing her countlessly put others infront of herself and being so kind. This also being the first manga that made me cry :d, quite a few times if i remember. A goal i set for myself back then was to be more like Tohru.
There are plenty of others but they are the main two so far i guess. Some other awesome characters being Luffy (One Piece) and Ueki (Law of Ueki) that come to mind.
In other news.. A new addition to my dollfie dream family might be coming soon. ^^
*tears*
lol that was just a beautiful entry~ *sniff sniff* you have to admit, Gainax really has a way of appealing to us viewers very emotionally eh? xD I especially love Kamina’s line:
“Never forget. Believe in yourself. Not the Simon that i believe in, not the Kamina you believe in. Believe in the you that believes in yourself”.
I’m sure the translation in Japanese isn’t as complex and mind-twisting but l suppose that’s one of the down sides to not being Japanese & hearing the actual proverb xD haha but yes, to be honest — l liked Kamina in Gurren as well as Simon (yes, I’ve been watching it xD) & they had a really great friendship~
Deep down, l really wanted to see where that lead to; but l think it was more inspiring that Simon took the reigns and grew courage in his heart 😉
LOL oh and TOHRU!!!!
YEAH~ Fruits baskets made me cry too ><
Can l please borrow the manga one day? I'd like to read the whole thing instead of just random books (unless l can download them online somewhere)
but yeah ;D at first l was a bit annoyed about her character- she just took EVERYTHING and didn't defend herself ..but later on you sorta understand her a bit more and know she's a lot stronger than that 😉
Great breakdown! Lol very enjoyable read indeed ;D
